After 3000 years passed, finally revealed the face of Tutankhamun’s mummy. Archaeologists took the mummy from its sarcophagus and put it in a crate with the temperature setting on his tomb in Luxor’s Valley of the Kings. The event comes 85 years after the pharaoh’s tomb was discovered by British explorer Howard Carter.
Until now, only 50 people who had seen the face of the boy king who died more than 3000 years ago. As experts lifted Tutankhamun from his coffin they briefly set aside the white cloth that covered him, black face and body.
The move is part of how to protect the remains. Archaeologists say they are threatened because of the heat and humidity in the tomb by a large number of tourists visiting each year.
“The golden boy has magic and mystery and therefore every person all over the world come to Egypt to see what was done to preserve the golden boy and all I am sure come to see the golden boy,” said Head of Heritage Zahi Hawass of Egypt before his body was moved .
